Carlos Corberán was full of praise for his team after they saw off Premier League side Burnley away from home at Turf Moor to book a place in the Fourth Round of the Emirates FA Cup.

Discussing the result, the Head Coach highlighted the players who stepped in to the side for the first time, and how they’d taken their chance to prove that they deserved their chance.

“For me today was special because the result was the consequence of a very good performance, especially in the second half.

“Like I always say, I have one squad with many players, and sometimes I can’t be fair with the players.

“For example, Ruffels had a very good performance and usually he’s on the bench, so we’re not watching him many times because Toffolo is another player who is performing very well.

“The same with Scott High, which is why Jon Russell hasn’t found as many opportunities in the league.

“I tried to select the players who I thought were ready to compete, and even though many of these players aren’t playing often, they are ready to compete.

“For me today was a good opportunity to show the character of the team and try to grow the squad, which is always important.”

Expanding on how the result reflects on his squad and the Club as a whole, Carlos was honest enough to admit that the only issue he currently has is narrowing down which of the players he has available to him to select for each game.

“This Club is going in the right direction.

“We have young players playing in a very demanding competition every weekend because we’ve increased the number of loans, and we’ve got a squad with more possibilities – that was clear from today’s game.

“Every player showed today they have the ability to play in the Championship, so the only problem I have now is picking the team for the next game because I can only select a certain number of players, and we have more than that number of players who are able to play.”
