Shortlist revealed for Sky Bet’s Manager and Player of the Month Awards for December 2021
- Carlos Corberán nominated for Manager of the Month
- Harry Toffolo nominated for Player of the Month
- Winners announced tomorrow, Friday 7 January
Town Head Coach Carlos Corberán and left-back Harry Toffolo have been shortlisted for Sky Bet’s Championship Manager and Player of the Month Awards after an undefeated December 2021.
Having already been shortlisted in August, this is Carlos’ second Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month nomination of the 2021/22 season.
Overseeing a brilliant festive period, Corberán’s inspired Town side went undefeated throughout December, backing up one-all draws against both Barnsley and Coventry City with a three-game winning streak against Bristol City, Blackpool and Nottingham Forest.
After a tough November in which Town only won once in five, it was a welcome return to form under difficult circumstances. Nominated alongside Tony Mowbray (Blackburn Rovers), Wayne Rooney (Derby County) and Chris Wilder (Middlesbrough), our Head Coach finds himself in good company.
Joining his Head Coach in being nominated, Harry Toffolo rounds off an incredible run across Christmas and New Year as a consideration for Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month, with John Buckley (Blackburn Rovers), Morgan Gibbs-White (Sheffield United) and Isaiah Jones (Middlesbrough) alongside him.
Registering a run of four consecutive games with an assist from open play against Coventry City, Bristol City, Blackpool and Nottingham Forest, the fan favourite has gone up another level in his current wing-back role, making telling, match defining contributions on both ends of the field.
Winners for both categories will be announced tomorrow, Friday 7 January 2021, with the judging panel comprising of Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, EFL Communications Director Mark Rowan and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies, with former Barnsley manager Danny Wilson also contributing to the Manger of the Month decision.
