Town Women return to action on Sunday 16 February 2022 after a forced week’s break to face top of the table Wolves Women.

The West Midlands side have been flying since their promotion to the National League North. Wolves are unbeaten in 13, having drawn three and won 10.

Last time out at the Stafflex Arena, the Terriers started well with Lucy Sowerby netting within the first 2 minutes of the game.

The visitors equalised just past the half hour mark, and struck again 4 minutes later. Britt Sanderson brought Town level just on the stroke of half-time. The Terriers tried to hold on in the second half to take a point, but Wolves scored the winner to continue their unbeaten run.

Assistant Manager Kamran Hussain spoke before the match.

“The questions asked of these players week in week out since we've come in have been of a high standard.

“We have maintained a high benchmark.

“Wolves are another one of those sides who will ask questions of us, who we have to overcome.

“It is a game where we can win for sure.

“The preparation is always detailed.

“The team spirit, culture and environment has pulled together this week like no other week.

“Everyone is raring to go.

“Town were a team full of goals before we came in.

“We have maintained this whilst keeping the opposition to a minimum scoring against us.

“Everyone in the league knows 3 points changes the table.

“This all comes at a cost, where everyone has to dig dee

p in the big moments.

“Come Sunday, the team who comes out on top will be pushed up the table.”

PLAYERS TO WATCH

For the home team, Amber Hughes scored a brace against Hull City last weekend. The striker scores for fun, so is a definite danger. Anna Morphet is another tough Wolves player to watch out for. The defender can also net the ball, which is another threat for Town to keep an eye on.

For the Terriers, Laura Elford very nearly scored against Everton in the FA Cup and was very unlucky to miss out. Midfielder Britt Sanderson will also be hungry for goals, as well as supplying to Elford.

HOW TO WATCH

Town fans will be able to watch Sunday’s game live at the Castlecroft Stadium, Wolverhampton. Live match updates will also be available on Twitter from 2pm on Sunday over at @HTAFCWomen.
