Huddersfield Town striker Jordan Rhodes is delighted to have helped his team to victory by scoring his first goal of the season in the Terriers’ 2-0 win over Derby County.

The win saw Town extend their unbeaten run to 11 in all competitions, in front of 16,231 fans at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Speaking to HTTV after the game, he commented on how pleased he was to get his first goal of the season, and 88th for Town, under his belt.

“It’s a bit of a relief!

“It’s taken a bit of a while, but it’s nice to get on the scoresheet.

“It’s nice to get on the pitch and try and make a difference whenever the manager calls upon me.

“Everyone in the squad we just try our best.

“It’s a real team effort and that’s all we can say at this moment in time.

“We just keep going, game by game, and now our attentions turn to Barnsley in the FA Cup on Saturday.”

Rhodes also commented on how much the win meant to him.

“I’m really pleased.

“Nice to get on the scoresheet tonight.

“Nice to come on and try and influence the game.

“We’re happy to come off with three points, two goals more than them, that’s what it’s all about.

“Three points, it’s a really important three points, and the table looks rosey again.”

The striker was also quick to discuss the fans support since his return to the Club.

“The crowd have been brilliant!

“Since I’ve come back, everybody around the place – I’ve been really humbled and flattered at the reception.

“I got there tonight, I’m pleased, that was for them.”

Town have a quick turnaround for their next game, hosting Barnsley in the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round on Saturday 5 January 2022. Rhodes rounded off his interview by saying what the squad can take forward with them.

“The three points!

“Now it’ll be all about recovery and everybody getting themselves in the best possible condition.

“We’ll see what Saturday brings.”
