With a point taken from Deepdale after an end-to-end encounter, Town are now 13 games unbeaten in all competitions.

Despite plenty of half-chances at both ends, nothing could separate the sides on the night and a point each was a fair reflection of the game as a whole.

Cancelling each other out playing very similar systems, each side took it in turn to launch attacks with both goalkeepers making telling interventions when called upon – Lee Nicholls especially, with Town’s number 21 doing his part in what is a third clean sheet in a row in all competitions.

Carlos Corberán did throw caution to the wind as the second half progressed with his substitutions, introducing Carel Eiting, Jordan Rhodes and Josh Koroma in three attack minded changes, but Town weren’t able to put anything together to cut through what is a well drilled and resurgent Preston side.

Having not won at Deepdale since 1969, it’s a positive point gained on the road in Lancashire, with Town now able to turn their attentions to a Yorkshire derby at home against Sheffield United at 12.30pm on Saturday 12 February at the John Smith’s Stadium.
