Town saw off Birmingham City two-nil away at St Andrew’s, with a dominant first half display from the Terriers the difference between the two sides.

Our third consecutive Sky Bet Championship win inside a week, Town began the game on the front foot, exploiting the spaces in behind Birmingham City whilst on the break to look a constant threat when going forward.

Having seen an early Jordan Rhodes goal chalked off as Duane Holmes crept offside in the build up, Town eventually hit the front through Levi Colwill.

Winning a corner on the left hand side, Sorba Thomas whipped in a fierce cross from the dead ball which found Colwill free at the far post. The young Chelsea loanee headed back across goal, with the ball ricocheting into the back of the net via an unfortunate Blues defender.

Turning just 19-years-old on the day, it wasn’t a bad way for the central defender to mark both his birthday and firs Town start in 10 matches having just returned from injury.

With the half coming to a close, Town’s press forced Birmingham into some confusion at the back, with the ball falling kindly to Lewis O’Brien just a few yards out, with the central midfielder calmly passing the ball past the goalkeeper with his left boot to make it two for the Terriers!

In a second half that passed without much incident, Birmingham were allowed to attack more than they had previously by a Town side that were managing the game and counter-attacking where and when possible. Other than one huge Lee Nicholls save of note from Hernandez, tipping a fierce drive against the crossbar, the Terriers saw out the half and secured three more points that further solidify our current position within the top six of the Sky Bet Championship.
