Huddersfield Town B Team Manager Jon Worthington reviews first draw in Premier League Cup
- Huddersfield Town B 2 - 2 Watford FC
- Goals from Myles Bright and Kian Harratt in draw
- B Team remain undefeated in Premier League Cup group stage
Despite watching his side drop their first points of the group stages in the Premier League Cup this season, B Team Manager Jon Worthington was largely pleased at full-time of the home draw.
Highlighting areas for improvement having been pegged back twice by the away side, Worthington said that despite those frustrations the effort and application of his side was faultless, especially with so many new faces involved at this level.
Speaking to htafc.com at full-time, Jon said:
“It was a little bit frustrating at times, and that frustration is because I thought we could’ve capitalised a little bit more on the moments where we were dominating the ball.
“In some areas we made poor decisions.
“I think it was a great opportunity for other players to play and to play at the John Smith’s Stadium as well in the Premier League Cup, so in terms of that and staying unbeaten while younger players are getting good opportunities, exposure and minutes it’s a positive.
“It was learning opportunity for us, it was a game where some of the decision making and quality could’ve been better at times, needed to be more patient in those moments with the ball, so that gives us something to work on.
“I definitely wouldn’t fault the effort of the lads or their application, I thought that was there, there was definitely a desire to win the game, and I was pleased with that.
“We’ll look at ourselves and see what we could’ve done better and analyse the goals we conceded too when we review the game, looking at both individuals and as a team both with and without the ball.
“Like I said, there were areas with the ball that we could’ve been better on, and defensively you never want to concede so we’ll be looking at how we can be better in those moments.”
