Huddersfield Town Women progress into the quarter finals of the FA WNL Cup

- Middlesbrough 1-6 Huddersfield Town Women
- HTAFC Women through to quarter finals of FA WNL Cup
- Anderson, Elford, Sanderson and Hulme all get their names on the scoresheet

Huddersfield Town Women book their place in the quarter finals of this year’s FA Women’s National League Cup after a 6-1 victory over Middlesbrough after the weekend.

Glen Preston’s side made a quick start to the game and put Boro on the backfoot from the first whistle and had their reward as Katie Anderson put Town a goal to the good. It was great work down the line from Laura Elford and delivered it to Laura Hulme, her effort was saved, but Anderson was in the right place at the right time and fired the rebound home.

Town made it two shortly after as Laura Elford was able to break free and she finished after going one-on-one with the ‘keeper.

The rain started to pour in a very cold Stockton and that became apparent as the game became scrappy and neither side were able to keep their foot on the ball.

The game was all but over just before half time as Laura Elford got her second goal of the game and Town’s third as Boro weren’t able to deal with the bouncing ball and Elford poked home from three yards.

Things got even better for Town just after the break as Elford drew a foul and Britt Sanderson stepped up and looped the ball over the wall and the ‘keeper and nestled in the back of the net.

Laura Hulme was next in the act as some brilliant build up play from Anderson in the middle saw her spread the play to Yasmin Mason and her point perfect cross found Hulme at the far post and she finished confidently.

Hulme got her second of the game late on as Town continued to put Boro to the sword as the conditions only got worse in the Northeast, Boro got a late consolation, but Town were able to hold out and book their place in the quarter finals and will travel to Wolves in the new year.

Next up for Town is a trip to the West Midlands to take on Birmingham City in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup Third Round.
