Huddersfield Town Head Coach Mark Fotheringham spoke about his team news and our upcoming Sky Bet Championship game against Sheffield United in his latest press conference.

Our Head Coach spoke to the media in his first press conference since the League break due to the FIFA World Cup.

Fotheringham started his press conference by talking about the training camp in Marbella and the friendly against Olympiacos.

“The camp was about getting the right amount of work into their legs, so it helped in that regard and the weather meant that we could do double training sessions.

“We were able to train intensively in the morning and use the afternoons to work tactically in a focussed environment – and we have a lot of young players in the group, so it helped them bond with the team and come out of their shells.

“The friendly against Olympiacos gave us the chance to play a different side in each half, with Brodie Spencer who has not long since turned 18 doing so well against Marcelo and then our three young French players looking promising in the second half.

“Olympiacos was a great test and experience for all of us involved.”

Asked about his team news, Mark updated the press ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship game against Sheffield United.

“We’re starting to slowly get the injured players back, and that gives us a really positive feeling going into the next part of the season.

“Tino Anjorin has been fantastic in every way since coming back after illness, he has a great personality, and he comes into training with so much enthusiasm.

“Matty Pearson is on track, in fact he is pushing himself to come back ahead of schedule, which is no surprise.

“Jonathan Hogg has been back in full training the past two days, which has given the group a real lift – I’m so excited to have him back on the pitch, he’s our captain and our leader out there. We still have to be patient though; he has been out for a long time.”

Mark then touched on the appointment of Assistant Coach Kenny Miller over the break.

“I crossed paths with Kenny Miller when we were doing our coaching badges, and he has an elite mentality and knowledge of how to win because he has been there and done it and you learn so much from people like that.”

“Alongside Narcis and Paul Clements, we have great staff.”

Looking ahead to the Sheffield United game this weekend, our head coach spoke about what he is expecting.

“Sheffield United are a big club and they have a very good coach – a man I respect.

“We will give them all of our respect, but we need to focus on ourselves, and I want to start well and build on from the win against QPR and the draw against Swansea City.

“It’s going to be an amazing atmosphere at Bramall Lane, and I’m so pleased with our fans and their support.

“We’re going to roll up our sleeves and ensure we stay in this league for our fans.”
