LOCAL COACHES INVITED TO LEARN HOW TOWN DEVELOP YOUNG PLAYERS

23 December 2022

Opportunity for local grassroots clubs to learn from Town’s professional coaches

- In association with West Riding County FA
- Town’s coaches demonstrated how their sessions can be adapted to grassroots football
- Comments from Head of B Team Recruitment, Lee Mellor

In association with West Riding County FA and Huddersfield Junior Football League, we invited over 40 local coaches to discover how we are developing our Terriers of tomorrow!

We recently opened the doors to the Millers Oils High Performance Complex, and we offered the opportunity for local grassroots clubs to watch and learn from Town’s professional coaches. The session was designed to improve the knowledge of local coaches and it will allow them to help young and aspiring footballers.

On the night, our coaches worked with players from Kirkburton Football Club to better demonstrate how their elite-level training sessions can be adapted to a grassroots setting.

A huge thank you to our Associate Partners Manrochem, for making the event possible.

Our Head of B Team Recruitment, Lee Mellor, commented:

“It’s extremely valuable for the local coaches to come down and just visit the site and see how we do it at Huddersfield Town.

“It’s really important that we open our doors to let the local community in – we are a community Club that likes to involve everyone as much as possible in everything we do.

“It was great to have Manrochem down here and as a Club Partner, it is vital we have local businesses supporting the Club – they keep the Club going.”

If you are a grassroots coach, particularly of a team at the Under-16 age group, you can register your interest for future events, you can email info@htafc.com.

Alternatively, if you – or your child – is in Year 11 at high school, plays football to a good level and has aspirations of getting involved in sport professionally, our course alongside Kirklees College could be perfect.

If you are interested in the Elite Development then you can contact the college on info@kirkleescollege.ac.uk or call 01484 437000.
