Making it an all important first set of back-to-back wins of the season, Town followed up their Boxing Day victory at Deepdale with an impressive 2-0 win over Rotherham United at the John Smith’s Stadium.
The better side for the majority of the game, a goal in each half was enough to secure all three points for the Terriers, with the Millers unable to truly test our resolute defence with the combination of Tom Lees, Michał Helik, Will Boyle and Lee Nicholls standing firm, ably assisted by Kaine Kesler-Hayden and Josh Ruffels on either flank.
Opening the scoring, Duane Holmes finished off a promising move by dropping his shoulder on the edge of the box, creating room for himself to shoot and firing Town ahead off the far post to register his first of the season.
Following a similar pattern of play for most of the match, Town doubled their lead in the second half through Jordan Rhodes with a trademark relaxed finish. Collecting the ball on the edge of the box from Kaine Kesler-Hayden (who was voted Man of the Match after another promising display) the forward controlled the ball and controlled a calm finish right into the bottom corner.
An enjoyable game and promising performance, the extended highlights can be watched via HTTV below!
