Speaking to HTTV straight after the full-time whistle at the Millers Oils Performance Complex, B Team Manager Jon Worthington said the defeat gave his side some areas to work on going forward.

Discussing the result, Worthy was pleased to see more of his squad get competitive minutes under their belt whilst admitting that his side weren’t at their best.

“We’re still in that period where we’re trying to get minutes and trying to give all of the players an opportunity, so I think that’s probably the only positive from today – it’s another game for them to get into their legs, but I think we move on quickly to the next one.

“In and around the box I think they did okay, I thought defended the box fairly well at times too.

“I think that’s one thing I never question from the lads, they’ll compete and give everything to every game that play.

“On the ball today some decision making, and technically, it was a little bit disjointed and I would say an off day for a majority of boys.”

Giving credit to the opponents, Jon said that Sheffield United pressed particularly well, and that kind of test will be a good lesson to learn for his players going forward.

“All credit to Sheffield United, I thought they were good today.

“They pressed hard and I think that’s good for the lads because it’s game understanding.

“They’ve got to recognise if things aren’t working and see how they adapt and how they change, so they don’t keep repeating the same decisions and same mistakes.”

Going into half-time level thanks to a brilliant Danny Grant finish, Worthy took a moment to praise the young Irish forward, who’s starting to show what his game is all about after a challenging start to his career with the Club.

“Danny has had a difficult start to his career at Huddersfield but over the past 12 months he’s gotten himself in good shape.

“He’s got a natural knack of good timing to receive the ball, he can unbalance defenders and he can show those types of qualities, so I’m pleased for him today.”
