Huddersfield Town continue their Sky Bet Championship season on Saturday 13 August 2022 when they welcome Stoke City to the John Smith’s Stadium; 3pm kick-off.

Town go into Saturday’s game still looking for their first win of the 2022/23.

Stoke City arrive in Huddersfield following a 2-0 home win over Blackpool on Saturday 6 August 2022.

THE OPPOSITION

Stoke City finished the 2021/22 season occupying the 14th spot of the Sky Bet Championship table with 62 points.

Managed by Michael O’Neill, this the Potters’ fifth consecutive season in the Championship.

Having beaten Blackpool 2-0 at home in their last league game, they’ll be looking to build on their momentum at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday afternoon. has been Stoke City’s manager since November 2019 and has kept them steady in the Championship since then, he will be looking to push his side to promotion fighting positions.

ONES TO WATCH

Harry Clarke

The right back joined the Potters on a season long loan from Arsenal in the summer of 2022. Clarke made the move to the Bet365 Stadium after three previous loan spells with Oldham Athletic, Ross County, and Hibernian. The 21-year-old has made 58 appearances in total across his loan clubs while scoring five goals in the process. After only two league appearances for Stoke so far, the defender has already found the back of the net in the opening half against Blackpool.

Dwight Gayle

Another new signing for Stoke City this season, the striker joined the Potters from Newcastle United on a two-year contract. Whilst best known for his time with the Magpies, Gayle has played for a number of other teams, including Peterborough United, Crystal Palace, and West Bromwich Albion. The 32-year-old hasn’t missed a game for Stoke so far since his arrival, playing in their League fixtures against Millwall and Blackpool, as well as their Carabao Cup game against Morecambe.

Jacob Brown

Since signing for Stoke City in September 2020, Brown has scored 19 goals in 88 appearances. The striker made the move from Barnsley, where he spent four years. Thanks to his 2021/22 form with Stoke, the 24-year-old was called up to the Scotland national side in the November 20201, making his debut against Moldova. Brown has already started his goal tally for the Potters, finding the back of the net against Blackpool.
