Huddersfield Town B Team forward Kieran Phillips has today joined Sky Bet League One side Morecambe on loan for the 2022/23 season.

Having spent the entirety of the 2021/22 season out on loan in Sky Bet League Two across two separate spells - first with Walsall before joining Exeter and helping to secure promotion in the second half of the campaign - this is a new challenge at a more demanding level for the high energy forward.

Awarded a new long-term contract until 2025 with the Club as a reward for his good form out on loan, the 22-year-old will look to build on that out on the Lancashire coast with the Shrimps, who are still looking for their first win of the 2022/23 season after five games.

Highly thought of, Phillips has a number of Town appearances in the Sky Bet Championship under his belt already, making 10 substitute appearances across the 2020/21 season. Having enjoyed a full pre-season with our First Team, he’ll head to Morecambe looking to make an immediate impact for Derek Adams’ side.

Huddersfield Town Loans Manager David Fox commented:

“Moving to Morecambe is a great opportunity for Kieran to build on how well he played out on loan last season progress his game even further at a higher level.

“He’s benefitted from a pre-season being involved with our First Team and can now take that experience into regular football and consistent minutes elsewhere, which is invaluable at his age.

“Morecambe will give Kieran a really healthy, competitive environment in which to push himself, and alongside our team internally will provide him the support required to make the most of the loan.

“Having signed a new contract with the Club recently, he’s clearly a player we have high hopes for, so we’re really looking forward to seeing how he takes on the challenge of Sky Bet League One this season.”
