Town secured our first points of the Sky Bet Championship season in convincing style, beating Stoke City 3-1 at home in a fantastic atmosphere at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Starting the game brilliantly, Town were put in a tricky position by the referee after a penalty was awarded against Josh Ruffels for a high foot, despite protestations.

Taken by Stoke captain Lewis Baker, it was saved in brilliant fashion down to his left by Lee Nicholls, which set the tone for the remainder of the half and ramped up the atmosphere in the stadium even higher.

Going ahead through Yuta Nakayama, the Japanese international got on the end of an excellent Sorba Thomas corner, sending a bullet header back across goal to give the Terriers a deserved lead.

Pegged back midway through the second half by a smart Baker strike from range, Town dusted themselves off and regained the lead through Danny Ward after great work from Duane Holmes, with our number 19 putting a third on a plate for Jordan Rhodes shortly after.

An excellent performance with a deserved outcome, you can watch the full highlights via HTTV below!
