Having twice gone ahead early on in each half, Town were pegged back on each occasion by a determined Queens Park Rangers side.
Starting brightly, the Terriers flew ahead thanks to an own goal from Hoops skipper Barbet following a corner. With a Sorba Thomas delivery flicked goalward by Jonathan Hogg’s glancing effort, Barbet’s final touch was telling.
Town looked to push on in the moments following the goal, but couldn’t manage to extend their lead despite their momentum.
Working their way back into the encounter, QPR settled into the game and begun to match the Terriers in midfield, which gave them a better foothold in the contest. Equalising after some good football down the left gave Amos a tap in from around the penalty spot, it was a perfectly timed reply for the visitors.
Undeterred, the Terriers began the second half with a similar pace and intensity, which lead to their second goal of the afternoon.
Playing the ball nicely between themselves nicely in midfield, Jon Russell eventually found space to pick out Turton wide right. The full-back shifted the ball into a crossing position, delivering a wicked ball straight onto the head of the onrushing Harry Toffolo who bullet headed the ball into the back of the net!
Unable to celebrate for too long, QPR made the most of a half chance a few minutes later, with Ilias Chair connecting with a deflected high ball excellently on the volley, giving Lee Nicholls no chance as he guided his effort into the corner.
