Huddersfield Town helped surprise Town fan Libbie Booker ahead of our game against Queens Park Rangers on Friday 15 April 2022.

Avid Town supporter Libbie was initially diagnosed with leukaemia at age 13 and relapsed aged 15, meaning a stem cell transplant from a suitable donor was her only chance of survival. There was no match, prompting the family to put out a worldwide appeal for a donor. Eventually a match was found in 21-year-old Ethan Beckley and thanks to his donation, via leading bloody cancer charity Anthony Nolan, Libbie is now a leukaemia survivor.

In getting to know Ethan, Libbie’s family discovered he adored Liverpool, yet he’d never seen a live match or even been to the city. They wanted to change this. And so, a letter was sent to the club from Libbie’s mum, Susan, hoping to try to find a way to thank Ethan.

He arrived at Anfield to meet Libbie and her family for the first time, and thought he was heading on a tour of the stadium, but had no idea he was also going to meet his hero, Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

Having seen this, Town’s Principal Partner, SportsBroker, wanted to treat Libbie, and so enlisted the help of Club Ambassador Michael Hefele to make sure it was a Town game that Libbie wouldn’t forget!

AMT Auto were on hand to provide Hef with some wheels to go and surprise Libby by being her chauffeur to Town’s home game against Queens Park Rangers on Good Friday, and little did she know that Ethan was hiding in the backseat ready to watch the game with her!

The pair were treated to a pre-match meal in hospitality, before heading to the Director’s Box for some of the best seats in the house to watch the game from.

Post-match, Libbie got to meet our very own goalkeeper, Lee Nicholls!

Now aged 18, Libbie is studying nursing at university.
