Ahead of the Worthington Walk, Huddersfield Town invited Frank's brothers, Dave and Bob, and his nephew Rob to the John Smith’s Stadium to talk about Frank's life and the importance of the walk.

The 22-mile walk in Frank Worthington’s name, sponsored by Deliveree, will take place on Saturday 16 October 2021.

The walk will take in some of Frank’s other former clubs in the region. Starting at Leeds United’s Elland Road, participants will make their way to FC Halifax Town’s The Shay, before finishing at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Admiring the pitch at the Stadium, Dave Worthington commented on how his brother would have excelled on modern pitches.

“I’m looking at that green pitch and I’m wondering what tricks Frank could have done on a pitch like that, up against the pitches that we used to play on.

“They were mud heaps!

“August you got a few games where you were playing at home and the pitches were lovely, but after that they were mudbaths, and he did it all on mudbaths.

“On a green surface like that, he would have been absolutely wonderful to watch.”

For supporters who want to get involved but would prefer to walk a shorter distance, there will be a second starting point at The Shay, which is a 7.5 mile walk to the John Smith’s Stadium. Please note that although the distance is shorter, there are still some challenging hills to navigate.

All participants are asked to raise a minimum sponsorship of £100 per person, with proceeds to be split equally between the Alzheimer’s Society and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Dave and Bob urge people to get involved, and help commemorate Frank’s life and career.

“I think everyone should get off their bums for this one,” Dave said.

“It’s raising money for charity, and it’s in honour of our younger brother.”

Bob added:

“We’d just love as many people as possible to come and join the family in a celebration of Frank’s life.”

The registration fee for the full 22-mile walk is £25, and £15 for the 7.5-mile route.
