Danny Ward is delighted to have bagged two goals in Huddersfield Town’s 3-2 win over Blackburn Rovers in the Sky Bet Championship on Tuesday evening.
The win saw Town get back to winning ways in front 15,283 fans at the John Smith’s Stadium.
Speaking to #HTTV after the game, he commented on how much it meant to get a home win.
“I’m absolutely buzzing.
“We needed a reaction after the weekend’s game and the boys dug in.
“We knew it was going to be a tough game, and they showed what they can do determination wise, but we just showed the grit and the determination in the team to keep fighting and get the winner.”
Ward discussed how great it is to ease some of the pressure associated with being a striker by finding the back of the net.
“It’s a massive boost.
“The amount of running we have to do is horrible!
“Every person does so much running for the team and works really hard.
“Everyone’s doing their bit off the ball and to get the goals on the night and win the game, it’s such a good feeling.”
The striker also made sure to comment on the confident that Sorba Thomas’ deliveries bring to the squad.
“It’s what you want!
“If you know that you’re making the runs and the cross isn’t going to come in or it’s going to hit the first man, you start thinking ‘Do I make the run?’, but when Sorba gets in those positions you know it’s going to be there or thereabouts and it’s going to rely on whether I get in front of the defender.
“The balls are always first class and tonight I managed to get on the end of them.”
