Huddersfield Town Under-17 forward Hakeem Sandah believes playing up with the Under-19 age group is helping him improve his game immensely.

Hakeem joined Town’s Under-17s from Tottenham Hotspurs as part of the Academy’s summer cohort ahead of the 2021/22 season.

The 16-year-old has impressed since his arrival, seeing him make the step up to feature for the Under-19 side.

“It’s been a good experience since I joined.

“Playing with the Under-19s you have to think a little bit quicker and a little bit sharper because the game’s that bit more physical.

“The speed is faster as well.

“The older players help you in games because they’ve been here longer and playing with them just helps everyone in general.”

The youngster also commented on the differences he’s found between Town and Tottenham.

“The way we play.

“Here, we like to man mark players, whereas at Tottenham you kind of mark the space.

“The way we play is a bit more aggressive in the press too.

“It might be different to what I was used to, but I’ve enjoyed being in a new environment and being with different teammates.

“I think I’ve gelled with them very well.

The forward went on to explain the improvements he’s seen in his game since linking up with the Under-17s.

“Defensively, I’ve improved a lot.

“I’m getting into more tackles and winning more duels.

“I think I’ve got a bit stronger as well since I’ve been there.

“In training I’ve mostly been focusing on my passing, but I’ve also been working on my finishing.

“This year I’m trying to get more goals and assists.

“Hopefully I’ll get to play with the Under-19s regularly as well.”

The Young Terriers are back in action on Saturday 2 October 2021 when they travel to face Scunthorpe United, 11am kick-off.
