B Team comfortably beats young Walsall side in the Central League

- Huddersfield Town B defeat Walsall Development’s side at Canalside
- Young Terriers put seven past their opponents
- Kit Elliott among scorers upon his return from injury

The Huddersfield Town B Team were clinical in dismissing a young Walsall team in the latest Central League game of the season at Canalside on Wednesday afternoon.

The Young Terriers remained top of the Central League table after six different players got on the scoresheet on a windy afternoon in West Yorkshire.

Town started the game brightly and created some opportunities early on, nearly going ahead as Micah Obiero (pictured above) had his effort well saved.

The Terriers continued to heap pressure on Walsall and their dominance finally showed as Brahima Diarra rose highest to head home from a Ben Midgley corner.

The lead was doubled just a few minutes later, with a Midgley corner resulting in another goal as the ball found its way in off the unfortunate Samin Sarvari, leaving Hedge stranded in the Walsall goal.

Town continued to dominate, and soon scored a third. Kian Harratt was played through down the side and his cut back found Mipo Odubeko; his effort was blocked but the rebound was slotted under the keeper by Obiero.

Walsall managed to carve out a chance of their own before half time however Tom Cox couldn’t quite divert his effort on target.

The Terriers continued to control the game after the break and added a fourth goal midway through the second half. Odubeko fought well to win the ball off the Walsall defence and advanced before coolly slotting an effort into the corner.

Town didn’t let up and a mistake from the Walsall ‘keeper allowed Harratt in and he stroked the ball into the empty net to make it 5-0.

Michael Roxburgh was called into action late on as Sarvari had room to strike an effort towards goal but the Town keeper got down smartly to keep the clean sheet intact.

Striker Kit Elliott was given a run out for the last 30 minutes after a recent injury layoff and managed to get himself on the scoresheet for the first time this season as he smartly headed home from a Jaheim Headley cross.

The rout was complete with five minutes to play as Josh Austerfield played through Ben Jackson who slotted the ball home to give Town a 7-0 win.
