- Comments from Academy Manager Emyr Humphreys

B Team midfielder Ben Midgley has signed a new contract at Huddersfield Town!

The talented 18-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a contract that runs until the summer of 2023, with the Club having the option of a further year’s extension.

Ben joined Town’s Academy in 2019 from Blackburn Rovers, and made an immediate impact, quickly establishing himself as Captain of the Under-17 side.

Having spent the majority of last season ruled out due to injury, the midfielder came back in time to Captain the Young Terriers to Clarets Cup victory in May 2021.

This season has seen the youngster determined to make up for lost time by regularly appearing for Jon Worthington’s B Team.

He signed his first professional contract with the Terriers in May 2021 and has now agreed this longer deal having turned 18 years old in June.

Huddersfield Town’s Academy Manager, Emyr Humphreys, commented:

“I’m delighted that we’ve secured Ben’s future for another two years.

“Ben’s had to face some frustrating setbacks over the last 12 months, but he’s never let them get on top of him and has now established himself as an important B Team player, which is a testament to his character.

“Ben has really developed as a leader during his time at the Club and he embodies the Club's values in the way he applies himself every day.

“We’re all really excited to continue working with him to help him fulfil his potential.”
