Carlos Corberán was unhappy with how his side performed in the first-half having fallen 0-2 behind to Middlesbrough at home.

Clear about where he saw the game lost, the Head Coach articulated how Middlesbrough were able to get the better of his side.

“We didn’t play well in the first-half. We didn’t press well in the first-half, we didn’t attack well in the first-half.

“Middlesbrough were better than us in the first-half.

“They moved players out wide and used their forwards as wingers, which made it impossible for us to press more aggressively.

“In the second-half we changed to a line of four at the back to be more aggressive with the press.”

Having made some tactical changes at the break, Corberán said the least he wanted to see from his side was a reaction compared to their first-half performance.

“Nobody was happy at half-time, we wanted to show something different to our fans.

“But when you can’t, the minimum we expected in the second-half was a reaction from the team. We didn’t get the result, but we wanted a reaction.

“We tried to break the press in the second-half by forcing their wing-backs higher to create more space behind their defenders and midfielders.”

When asked to share his emotions after the disappointing result, the Head Coach said he was angry with how the game had gone for his side.

“I am angry with the situation because we didn’t manage the game well.

“We didn’t attack well, we didn’t defend well. I feel responsible to make sure things get better, because today in the first-half things didn’t work well.”
