B Team midfielder Etienne Camara says he is happy with the performance both himself and his teammates put in during Wednesday evening’s 1-1 Premier League Cup draw away to Newcastle United.

Town sit top of the table in Group G with seven points from three games at the halfway point of the group stages, with the top two sides progressing to the knockout stages.

Although the French midfielder was disappointed that the Young Terriers allowed Newcastle back into the game in the second half, Camara was pleased with his team’s opening 45 minutes.

“I think we played really well in the first half, there was a lot of positives throughout the whole side.

“After they scored in the second half we really struggled to get back into the game and get back in the lead.

“We’ve done well in the cup so far and it’s very important for us to get to the knockout stages.”

The 18-year-old was also quick to comment on his personal performance.

“I am very happy with my performance, but I still need to improve in order to be better.

“I want to be perfect, so there are always things to work on.”

Wednesday evening’s game saw the Frenchman up against key Newcastle United player Joe White, a challenge he relished.

“It was great for me because it was a hard challenge, he is a really key player for Newcastle United.

“This is the reason I play football, though, I like to be challenged because it pushes me further.

“It was a very good thing.”
