Danny Ward was relieved after Huddersfield Town secured their Sky Bet Championship status following a 1-1 draw with Coventry City.

The striker came off the bench to draw the Club level after falling behind midway through the second half.

That goal meant Town secured their target and after the game, Wardy gave an honest assessment on the season.

“That was the main aim (securing our Sky Bet Championship status). We know it’s not been the best season, but we are safe now and can start looking to next season, to make sure that we do a lot better.

“We’ve made it hard for ourselves a lot of the time. We need to make sure we aren’t in this position next year and we’re pushing towards the other end of the league.”

The equaliser was Wardy’s first since his return to the Club.

“It’s been a long time coming,” said the striker. “It’s personally been a nightmare of a season with injuries and stuff, so it’s always nice to be on the scoresheet and break the duck. Personally, though, it’s been a shocking season.

“When I came back to Huddersfield Town, it was actually the best I’ve felt, but I’ve been unlucky with the injuries I’ve been getting. I’ve had a bit of a run in the team now and I feel fitter and stronger.”
