- Comments from Huddersfield Town’s Club Ambassador Andy Booth
Huddersfield Town have offered every junior club in Huddersfield and the surrounding areas a complimentary signed home shirt to help them raise funds to keep their clubs going!
Over 80 clubs from the Huddersfield Junior Football League have been contacted as the Terriers look at ways to support them through the significant challenges the COVID-19 pandemic has posed.
In light of this, over 60 signed Town shirts have been sent out so far, and the Club hopes that this initiative will help these grassroots clubs to raise funds that will go a long way towards aiding their recovery from COVID-19.
Huddersfield Town’s Club Ambassador, Andy Booth, commented:
“There’s no doubt that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a detrimental effect on junior clubs in our local area and they play a vital part in getting youngsters active and into the game.
“We are hopeful that by offering them a signed Town shirt, they will be able to raise vital funds to support their running costs.
“We will continue to look at ways to support clubs and people in our local area.”
Some of the junior clubs have been in contact with the Terriers after receiving their signed shirt and explained how much this will help them.
Honley Juniors
‘’Please can I accept your kind offer of a signed Huddersfield Town football shirt which we can use for a future fundraising event. As with many grassroots sports clubs, we are endeavouring to keep participation costs to a minimum for our children’s families therefore your kind offer would be greatly appreciated.’’
Ryburn United Juniors
‘’At Ryburn United Juniors we would very much like to take up this offer and utilise it to support our ongoing fundraising for the club to enable it to grow and support children across our local community. We hope to hold our annual football festival this summer and the shirt would be a great raffle prize to encourage people to enter. I’m sure many of the Town fans at the clubs will want to win it!’’
