Huddersfield Town Under-17s midfielder Brodie Spencer was ecstatic to see the final game of his first season with the Young Terriers result in a cup win.
Town’s youngsters clinched the 2019/20 Clarets Cup at the John Smith’s Stadium thanks to Ben Midgley’s 69th-minute penalty.
Spencer could barely contain his pride post-match, stating that he was very happy to end his maiden campaign with a trophy.
“I couldn’t be feeling any better!
“Obviously, this is my first season with Huddersfield, it’s our last game of the season, what a way to finish it with a win and to win the cup, so it couldn’t be better right now.”
The Cup Final victory caps off a fantastic first season with the Club, having also received a call up to the Northern Ireland Under-19 squad.
The 17-year-old expressed his gratitude to George Danaher and Jon Worthington for the faith that they have both shown in him for the Under-17, Under-19, and B Team sides, respectively.
“It just makes me feel very good.
“It gives me a lot of confidence when they put their trust in me to play with all the other lads.
“Every time I play in a match, I give 110% and show them that I can handle playing with the older lads in stronger, technical ways.”
Spencer also stated that he is ready to get back into action, as he plans to continue working hard ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
“Pre-season will be starting in two or three weeks for me.
“I get back home, have a week or two rest, and then get straight into the games and running.
“You want to come back absolutely flying because if you don’t, it is a missed-out opportunity.
“You’ve got to come back absolutely on it because the rest of the lads will be and if you’re not on it, you’ll be losing out.”
