Huddersfield Town Under-17s defender Charles Nduwuisi-Ondo is glad to be back on the pitch following an injury lay off for a leg injury.

The youngster was part of the Club’s summer 2020 intake, joining from Millwall to link up with The Academy’s Under-17 side.

The injury, which Charles picked up in training, has seen him watching from the sidelines for the last four months. He commented on how it felt to finally be back playing.

“I think the game went well.

“I came on as a substitute against Scunthorpe United and played as a striker, and then in our latest game against Mansfield Town I started the game and played as a left winger.

“I think I did well, especially given that I’ve been out for quite a long time.”

The 17-year-old discussed how he found his recovery.

“At first, I tried to be as happy as possible, thinking that by doing that the days will go quicker.

“It did because of the support that I had with the physios - Dom, Callum, Brad and Luke - and the work I did in the gym.

“Overall, I think it was good. I learnt a lot about myself throughout that stage.”

The defender commented on how he’s found Town compared to Millwall.

“I was at Millwall for quite a long time.

“Millwall’s the lower ages of football, like Under-8s to Under-12s, so I didn’t really get to experience any proper competitive games.

“It was more about just enjoying it, but here, it’s more competitive now that I’m older. I’m enjoying it.

“Also, at Millwall it was different in that you didn’t really get to see the First Team, but at Huddersfield we’re all together within one building.”

The youngster also spoke about his aims for the remainder of the 2020/21 season.

“To get back into it because I’ve been out for quite a long time.

“I also want to just enjoy playing again.”

Charles and his Under-17 teammates will be back in action on Saturday 13 March 2021 when they host Rotherham United at Canalside.
