Head Coach Carlos Corberán praised his side’s character but was disappointed the Terriers’ efforts couldn’t be rewarded with three points against Cardiff City.

Town fought for 90 minutes against the in-form Bluebirds, and went closest to edging the game through Yaya Sanogo’s missed penalty, but the Terriers had to settle for a point in the end from Friday's encounter at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Carlos praised his side’s work ethic throughout the 90 minutes when speaking post-match.

“I think the players put in the effort the game demanded today,” he said.

“We knew we were going up against an opponent that didn’t lose in the last ten games. They arrived here with a good dynamic of results.

“We knew that we had to play with a lot of character, with a lot of mentality and a competitive mind.

“I am proud of the mentality of the players, I am proud of the character that they played with, I am proud about how they competed.

“But at the same time, I’m totally disappointed because one point when we were feeling we could get something else is not enough.”

Town’s Head Coach also hailed the importance of Ryan Schofield’s performance between the sticks and the Terriers’ first clean sheet since December.

“The clean sheet was also important because we went a long time without a clean sheet.

“Unfortunately, it didn’t bring us three points, but I think the step of Ryan was an important step.”

Next up for Town is a trip to the capital to face Queens Park Rangers in the Sky Bet Championship in just over a week.

Carlos says they will use the time to recover the players first before getting set for next Saturday’s game at Loftus Road.

“We are going to use this time first of all to recover because the number of games we are playing is too high.

“Today was the seventh game in a row without stop so now the players need a break, they need the weekend.

“The players that didn’t play will play in the B Team game tomorrow.

“After this we will prepare for the game with one normal week which is not usual this year in the Championship.”
