Huddersfield Town Under-19 midfielder Brahima Diarra showcased his versatility on the pitch against Bradford City on Wednesday afternoon.

Most comfortable when deployed as an attacking midfielder, Diarra instead played right-back in a back four alongside First Team players Tommy Elphick, Romoney Crichlow and Jaden Brown.

“Personally, I thought I played alright.

“I played right-back which is not my usual position, but I can learn when I play there.

“There’s more sprinting at right-back than there is when I play in midfield, so it’s better for me and my future as a footballer because it helps me develop.”

Speaking to htafc.com after the game, the midfielder was pleased with the side’s performance.

“I think we played very well today.

“We played as a team and everyone defended together, so it was really good.

“We will continue to win more games if we continue to play like that.”

The Young Terrier also commented on how playing with experienced players in Town’s B Team has helped him develop as a player.

“Tommy Elphick helped me play the position well today.

“He told me what I can do on the pitch and he communicates a lot, so I can learn from him.”

Wednesday’s outing was just another to add to a prolific season for the 17-year-old so far which has seen him play frequently for both the Under-19s and the B Team, as well as earn his first competitive appearance for Carlos Corberan’s First Team in the Sky Bet Championship when he came off the bench as a second half substitute against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in December 2020.

The Parisian also featured for George Danaher’s side in the EFL Youth Alliance Cup Quarter-Final against Walsall on Saturday (27 February 2021), where he bagged a hat-trick.

“I was really happy to get a hat-trick!

“I said last year that I was going to get a hat-trick and now it’s finally happened!”
