Huddersfield Town’s new front of shirt sponsor, Utilita, spoke to #HTTV about why Town were a Club that they wanted to sponsor.
The UK’s leading Smart Pay As You Go supplier agreed a three-year deal to become the Terriers’ principal partner in March 2021.
Utilita’s Chief Marketing Officer, Jem Maidment, admits there was plenty that attracted them to Town.
“Huddersfield’s a big football club and I think that maybe if you’re living in the area, you don’t realise quite how big the Club is nationally.
“It’s a very well recognised Club and you look around at this magnificent stadium and it’s instantly recognisable – there’s a lot of positives and there’s a lot of support here.
“Another of the things that’s attractive is that if you live in Huddersfield you tend to be a Terrier, so all of those things together are very attractive and there was a big pull there.
“We look long and hard at the clubs that we do work with and it’s important to us that they fit the Utilita demographic and Huddersfield and the wider West Yorkshire area is a big fit.
“We would consider these areas our heartlands.”
Maidment also explained why it’s important to the company that they are available to get involved in the local community and meet Town fans.
“Since I’ve been with the business, and what we do as a business, community is key.
“We don’t want to be a passive partner, otherwise there’s no point.
“We don’t just want to be a logo on a jersey, we want to be a meaningful partner working in tandem with the Club and working in tandem with the community.
“Speaking with the Club, with the retail team and Ian Birtley and Mark Devlin, we do have plans that we want to get in place for the start of the new season that will really be putting us at the heart of the community.”
