Huddersfield Town’s new signing Josh Ruffels believes he’s playing the best football of his career so far.

The attack-minded full-back will join the Club after excelling at Oxford United over the last few years.

During the 2020/21 campaign, Josh had his most fruitful spell going forwards contributing to 13 goals in all competitions (seven goals and six assists).

He explained how keen he is to hit the ground running at Huddersfield Town.

“I’d say I’m in my prime at the moment and I want to show that to the Huddersfield Town fans.

“I had a good season last season with goals and assists, so hopefully I can show that in games, and add that to help the Club; that’s my aim to provide that attacking role.

“I know the full-backs do that in this team, so if I can show that to the Head Coach, I would be delighted.

“I feel like I’m ready for the challenge and looking forward to moving up north. I want to get into the team and establish myself in the Championship”

Ruffels hasn’t always been a full-back, though, which might be where his attacking flair comes from!

“I was a midfielder before and now I’m a full-back. Over the last three years, I’ve enjoyed defending first and foremost. The challenge of facing different wingers every week is exciting to me.

“I’ve added the attacking side to my game as well, so getting forward, headers at the back stick, and I’m pretty good on the ball too, so hopefully I can show them what I can do.

“A few years ago, I was in and out the team, but now I’ve had a few years of being in the team solidly playing 40 to 50 games and that’s really helped me.”
