Huddersfield Town’s First Team players have returned to Canalside in groups across Monday and Tuesday ahead of the 2021/22 Sky Bet Championship season!
The senior players reported back to the training ground after a short summer break to undergo medical and physical performance testing ahead of training getting back under way.
On the medical front, the players underwent detailed health screening to ensure that the elite demands put on them throughout the season pose no risk to them. Tests include blood work and cardiac screening, ensuring there are no underlying problems that exist.
Town’s medical team also form baseline data for each player at this stage, which aids them in establishing the levels that players need to return to after suffering from an injury during the season.
On the physical performance side, the players are checked against the staff’s expected values for them, based on previous levels and what you’d expect for athletes of their physical stature. This spans from basics such as weight, body fat percentage and fitness to more detailed checks.
Some of these tests took part at Leeds Beckett University’s Headingley campus too.
