Levi Colwill told HTTV that he’s ready for the challenge of playing Sky Bet Championship football for Huddersfield Town.

The England youth international completed a loan move from European Champions Chelsea today, having signed a new long-term contract at Stamford Bridge.

Now his focus is fully on performing for Huddersfield Town and showing everyone that he has what it takes to excel in the second tier.

“I’m very happy to be here. I’m excited for the future and what it holds,” Levi told HTTV at Canalside on Wednesday.

“(Moving to Town early in the window) means I can settle in quickly, get ready for pre-season and be prepared to take the season on.

“I know it’s a great town. I went around this morning and it’s nice; I like it. I’m ready to settle in and play good football.”

This loan is the 18-year-old’s first chance to play Championship football, but he’s confident he can succeed.

“This will be a big step up for me, from playing Under-23s football. I’m coming to a big club with real expectations, so I have to step up and show everybody what I’m made of.

“It’s going to be a big challenge – I know that – but I’m ready to take it on. I need to prove to everyone that I’m going to be a good player, and that I am now – it’s as simple as that.”

Colwill explained that his experienced playing in the Papa John’s Trophy for Chelsea reinforced his desire to play regular senior football as soon as possible.

“It was a lot different to Under-23s football. It was a lot more physical and you have to be switched on all the time and communicate. That side is going to be exactly the same. Those games did have me thinking that I’m ready for the step up, and I’m excited for it. Now I’ve got to take it with two hands.

“It is a challenge to play in this league as a young centre half, but the team here has said they believe in me, and I believe in myself. I’ll be ready.”
