- B Team defender agrees a deal running until 2024
- Club has the option to extend for a further season
Huddersfield Town B Team defender Loick Ayina has agreed a new long-term contract with the Club!
Loick, a centre back, has today put pen-to-paper on a contract that runs until the summer of 2024, with the Club having the option of a further year’s extension.
Since joining the Town Academy in 2019, Loick has been a virtual ever-present in both training and games, racking up an amazing 47 appearances across the Club’s B Team, Under-19s and Under-17s during the 2020/21 campaign.
He was also an unused substitute for the First Team during the Emirates FA Cup game against Plymouth Argyle in January 2021.
Born in Brazzaville, Congo, he is a French national and played for ESTAC Troyes and Sarcelles AAS near Paris before moving to West Yorkshire.
He signed his first professional contract with the Terriers in August 2020 and has now agreed this longer deal having turned 18 years old in April.
An aggressive, front-foot defender with good mobility and an eye for a pass, he is certainly one for Town fans to keep a close eye on in the coming years!
Huddersfield Town’s Academy Manager Emyr Humphreys commented:
“Loick has already improved so much in his two years at the Club.
“He has shown real hunger and enthusiasm to train and compete every day since moving over from Paris.
“He’s becoming a real leader and organiser on the pitch, which correlates to big improvements in how comfortable he is with the language.
“We’re all excited to continue working with Loick to help him reach his undoubted potential.”
