Huddersfield Town defender Harry Toffolo is looking forward to going from strength to strength throughout the 2021/22 Sky Bet Championship season.
The First Team are in the midst of pre-season, and Toffs caught up with #HTTV to discuss how it’s been going so far.
“It’s been really good.
“It’s nice to have the new boys integrating into the group as well and spending a bit of time with them.
“It’s important to get the groundwork done early and get the fitness in, which we’ve been doing a lot of, a lot of running.
“It’s been enjoyable so far and we’re looking forward to now, with the fixture list coming up, being able to play games and put all the practice we’re doing out on the field into play – it’s an exciting time.”
The defender went on to talk us through what pre-season is like under Carlos Corberán.
“Hard. Hard work, as you’d expect.
“They’re long days, thinking more to the double session vibe.
“There’s a lot of running, but it’s all calculated, it’s not a ridiculous amount of running as some people might think.
“The sports scientists lead it as well as the manager and all of the management staff.
“It’s something that us as players, we benefitted from a shorter pre-season last season, and we started the season extremely well.
“We were a lot fitter than most teams and we’ve now got that experience, we’ve got the robustness in our systems now and hopefully we’ve got rid of some of the injuries that we had and our bodies have become more accustomed to the style of play.
“We’re looking forward to having the new lads in, they’ve brought definite a different dimension to the group as well.
“It’s an exciting time and I’m looking forward to going from strength to strength.”
Toffs also took the time to explain what the team will aim to get out of Saturday’s game against Southport.
“I think it’s going to be important for us to put our stamp on the game very early.
“I think we’ve got to get the way we’re playing, what we’re working on. We’re working on lots of play this season – we’ve got new players coming in and we want to integrate them as quickly as possible.
“Hopefully we’ll be able to play more minutes, I think it’s important for us to try and not chuck more and more minutes going into the season because we’re only three weeks out now.
“It’s going to come round quicker than we even know, so it’s important for us to embed ourselves into the game very early and look forward to moving the ball around and enjoy the ball, but also look forward to a competitive Southport side.”
