Yorkshire derby to open Town’s competitive 2021/22 season
- Huddersfield Town travel to Sheffield Wednesday in Carabao Cup
- Game to be played on Sunday 1 August, 1pm kick-off
- First Team friendly re-arranged as a result
Huddersfield Town’s competitive season will begin with the Carabao Cup Round One game against Sheffield Wednesday.
The fixture will take place at Hillsborough on Sunday 1 August 2021, with a 1pm kick-off.
The EFL gave clubs the option of playing their Carabao Cup Round One games ahead of the start of the league season if a date could be agreed, and Town reached consensus with the Owls.
Information on possible attendance will be confirmed in due course.
As a result, the scheduled First Team friendly against Oldham Athletic, planned for 31 July, has been cancelled.
