Huddersfield Town new boy Josh Ruffels says he’s excited to kick on after his impressive first appearance for the Club against Harrogate Town.
Ruffels, who joined Huddersfield Town after his contract at Oxford United expired in July, played the second half of Town’s first pre-season friendly, and put in a shift up and down the left wing, nearly getting on the scoresheet on several occasions.
Speaking to #HTTV after the game, the defender discussed of getting his first minutes in the tank ahead of the new season.
“It’s great to make my debut, obviously we’ve had a few weeks of training it’s been difficult – as tough as it should be – and it’s nice to get the jersey on finally and play 45 minutes,” he said.
“It’s always a little bit tough to get your legs going. It’s always fast paced, first game everyone wants to show what they’re about, but it was enjoyable. Had a few chances as well, could have got on the scoresheet but it wasn’t to be, but it was nice. I felt quite sharp and hopefully get a few more in the tank.”
Now that he does have that first game completed, Ruffels hopes the fans have had an insight into what he can bring to the First Team in the 2021/22 season.
“Hopefully they’ve seen good use of the ball, good engine on me I like to think, so plenty of energy, plenty of endeavour, and I hope I can get on the scoresheet. I was unlucky today, but hopefully in future I can.
“Now I just need to give it my best effort. Trying to get in the team is the main aim for me this season as much as I can, and all the effort I can do on the pitch now will help with that. It’s a new challenge for me, the Championship, so the more minutes I get the more I can show my ability. I just have to be confident when I get the chance.”
