Michael Hefele is back at Huddersfield Town!

‘Hef’ quickly became one of the most popular players in recent memory during his two-year stay with the Terriers, achieving cult status with his performances on the field and character off the pitch in helping Town gain promotion to the Premier League in 2017.

He now returns to the Club not as a player, but in a newly created role working with various departments behind-the-scenes.

Michael will work alongside our other ever-popular Club Ambassador, the legendary Andy Booth, in furthering support for the Club across its many community initiatives, including Town Foundation initiatives and our work with local schools and junior football clubs.

On top of that, ‘Hef’ will also work with the commercial team on match days and non-match days, become a regular figure on the Club’s ‘HTTV’ YouTube channel, and will also undertake coaching and mentoring with the Club’s emerging Academy talent.

Michael will also be on-hand at First Team home match days – and he cannot wait for his reunion with Town fans!

“I’m very thankful for this opportunity, which the Chairman and the Club has given me.

“We have a great past and now I’m looking forward to a successful future! I have big goals and big dreams together with all the people here and the Huddersfield Town fans and I cannot wait to see you back at the John Smith’s Stadium in August.

“This position gives me the chance to develop myself. I will progress my coaching badges, my Sporting Director course and get an overview of the entire Club, inside and out. I want to get a feeling on how everything is run and start from scratch on the non-playing side of football.

“I’m up for this new adventure and will put everything I have into this new role. I want to help to bring success back to Huddersfield Town!”

Huddersfield Town Chairman Phil Hodgkinson added:

“It’s wonderful news that we can welcome Michael back to his English home.

“I don’t need to inform any Town fans about the qualities that he brings to the Club, as he’s one of the most popular players we’ve had in living memory. He was a terrific player for us in a fantastic season, of course, but he also endeared himself to everyone connected with Town because of his demeanour off it. He exuded passion, and a deep care for the Club and its fans.

“His love for Town hasn’t waned in his three years away, and we’ve kept in contact throughout. He jumped at this chance to return to the Club in an ambassadorial role, and he’s determined to play a big part in helping us grow and move forward.

“We’ve already seen the hugely positive impact that Andy Booth has had – and continues to have – for this Club, and ‘Hef’ will only add to that.”
