Huddersfield Town forward Kieran Phillips has joined Sky Bet League 2 side Walsall on loan.

The 21-year-old’s loan spell will run until the end of the 2021/22 campaign and let him gain valuable experience of First Team football under the management of Matthew Taylor.

Walsall finished 19th in the Sky Bet League 2 table last season after picking up 53 points from 46 games.

Kieran rejoined the Terriers on loan from Everton in January 2020, before putting pen-to-paper that July. The move made Phillips a permanent Town player for the second time; he was part of Town’s Academy before his goalscoring record saw him move west to join the Toffees at Under-13 level.

Since returning to Town, the youngster has impressed, making his First Team debut against Reading in the Sky Bet Championship in January 2021.

He regularly trains with Town’s First Team and appeared in the Club’s match day squad three times prior to his debut.

Huddersfield Town’s Head of Football Operations Leigh Bromby commented:

“It’s important for Kieran to have regular minutes, so this is a great opportunity for him.

“He’s progressed really well since coming back to Huddersfield and deserved to make his First Team debut last season.

“The best option for us this season was to find a club where he can show what he can do.

“It’ll be a test for him, trying to hold down a starting shirt, but Kieran’s worked incredibly hard for his opportunity and I have no doubt he’ll impress.”
