LOAN: JACOB CHAPMAN JOINS GATESHEAD

29 July 2021

Australian goalkeeper moves to Vanarama National League North

- Jacob Chapman joins Gateshead on loan
- Academy goalkeeper to gain more senior experience
- Comments from Head of Goalkeeping Paul Clements

Huddersfield Town Academy goalkeeper Jacob Chapman has today joined Vanarama National League side Gateshead on loan for the upcoming 2021/22 season.

The 20-year-old Australian, who signed a new contract with the Club late last week, gained his first taste of senior experience through a prior loan spell at Ossett United, but this move represents the next step forward in his development.

Managed by former Newcastle United centre back Mike Williamson, the Tynesiders play in the sixth tier of the English football pyramid at the International Stadium.

Huddersfield Town’s Head of Goalkeeping Paul Clements commented:

“We’ve worked hard to identify the right move for Jacob’s development, and I believe that Gateshead is a great opportunity for him.

“They’re a great club with good people, they play at a testing level and the coaching team encourage them to play good football.

“Jacob has really progressed since joining us and he’s now ready for this step. Playing in front of crowds in games that really matter is a great experience and I’m looking forward to seeing him in action for them over the coming weeks and months.”
