Huddersfield Town Head Coach Carlos Corberán says there will be alterations to his team for Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup tie with Plymouth Argyle along with opportunities to impress for members of his First Team squad.

Town’s Head Coach has named an unchanged line-up for the last five outings but third-round clash with the Green Army on Saturday comes off the back of a busy 17-day period in which those games were played.

Speaking in his pre-Plymouth press conference, Carlos says there will therefore be some expected rotation following that hectic schedule of matches.

“I think it’s necessary to do this as a coach,” he said.

“I respect this competition, it’s a really nice competition and very special but I need to be very conscious of the squad we have right now in terms of the number of minutes and the number of injuries.

“We are going to play with a team that is totally different to the one we play with in the league games.

“It’s a big opportunity, especially for the players that are part of the squad that have been on the bench,” he added.

“It’s going to be a big opportunity for them to test and to challenge themselves.”

Carlos also spoke about new signing Rolando Aarons during his press conference, after the winger completed his move to the Club on Thursday.

Although it may be too soon for the 25-year-old to start, Town’s Head Coach says it’s likely he could make his Terriers debut from the bench against Plymouth.

“On one side, it’s too soon. But on another side, it’s necessary to involve him.

“As soon as he starts to get some minutes, the faster will be able to adapt to this process.

“He won’t start but he will get some minutes.”

Three players that the boss will be without for the visit of Plymouth are Danny Ward, Adama Diakhaby and Isaac Mbenza.

The former two are continuing their recoveries from respective injuries whilst Isaac is unavailable due to an isolation period as per COVID-19 regulations.

He has tested negative for Covid-19, however, as have the rest of the squad, says Carlos.

“Only Isaac Mbenza is in the isolation process. He tested negative though.

“We don’t have any positive cases (in the First Team bubble). This is something very positive for our Club, so we need to continue following the protocols.

“He will come back to train in the next week.

“Unfortunately, we continue waiting for Danny Ward’s recovery,” he added.

“Now, he’s continuing progressing with the medical staff. I don’t expect he comes back to training with the group until the middle of the next week.

“Adama is the same as he continues to have an injury in the achilles. He is continuing to work with the medical staff, and we don’t expect to have him in the next week.”
