Kian Harratt on target in Young Terriers’ latest fixture

- Young Terriers beat Grimsby Town 5-1 in Central League Cup
Huddersfield Town striker Kian Harratt is delighted to have started 2021 with a bang following the Young Terriers’ emphatic 5-1 victory over Grimsby Town at Canalside on Wednesday afternoon.
Alongside goals from Sam Sharrock-Peplow and Kit Elliott, Harratt netted an impressive hat-trick as Town swept aside their opponents to earn another three points in the Central League Cup.
In a recent interview with htafc.com following the 2-2 draw with Scunthorpe United, the 18-year-old revealed his desire to build on his positive displays in 2020 by getting on the scoresheet as frequently as possible.
This is something that he has started in style, in what was the Young Terriers’ first taste of action since the turn of the new year.
“It couldn’t have gone any better!
“The conditions made it a hard game, but we stuck to our football and just played the way that we do,” Harratt said.
“There haven’t been many games played so far this year, but I am happy to get back on the scoresheet again.”
Harratt has been in excellent goalscoring form for Town following his return to Canalside from a loan spell at National League North side Guiseley.
All three of his goals against the Mariners were courtesy of instinctive first-time finishes from inside the area that came as a result of some intelligent movement away from his marker.
He explained that this is something he has been looking to improve on the training ground, but also insisted it is one of the strongest aspects of his game.
“I work on my movement a lot but not as much as other areas of my game. I think that just comes natural to me.
“It is important for any striker to keep their form going. Once you start scoring it gives you confidence and I just want to make sure that I keep it going.”
