Rolando Aarons can’t wait to get started at Huddersfield Town after permanently joining the Club.

The 25-year-old winger was very close to joining the Terriers on Deadline Day in October, but the deal couldn’t be concluded in time.

That meant that Rolando continued to train at Newcastle United in the hope that the deal would be completed in January 2021.

After putting pen-to-paper on a deal with the Terriers, Rolando described his emotions and how closely he’s been watching Carlos Corberán’s side.

“I’m buzzing! It’s nice to know that’s it’s finally done now and I’m looking forward to it.

“I’ve been watching the games, every single game since Deadline Day in October, and I’ve been keeping fit at Newcastle to get prepared for this moment.

“It was always going to happen one way or another, it didn’t happen in October, but I’m glad it’s happened now.”

After watching all of Town’s games from October onwards, Rolando gave his early thoughts on the system.

“It’s very attacking, fast and has a real high demand on your body. I like it and it’s the way I like to play football; it’s fast, direct, attacking and it’ll be good for me as a forward player as I’ll get a lot of opportunities.

“I’ve seen the forwards creating a lot and getting chances in games, so this football is good for me. I’ve been itching to play and watching the games thinking if I was there, I’d have done this!

“It’ll be nice to get out there and actually get into the games and be a part of it; it does look good to watch!

“I’m going to give my best every game. I’d like to think I’ll score and provide chances; that’s what I’ve been working on and believe I can bring to the team.”

The winger held detailed discussions with Town’s Head of Football Operations and Chairman prior to joining and he explained how those persuaded him to sign.

“When I spoke to Leigh (Bromby) and Phil (Hodgkinson) this move was a no brainer for me.

“The Club made it very clear how much they rate me as a player and as an individual as well, which is very important.

“They talked me through the project and what they expect from me. It was literally a no brainer.

“They told me that I could thrive in this system and environment. The conversations were very encouraging and I’m really happy to be part of this.”
