Huddersfield Town Head Coach Carlos Corberán says a lack of concentration in the first half ultimately cost the Terriers in the 2-1 defeat to Bristol City in the Sky Bet Championship.

Two Famara Diédhiou goals over a four-minute period before the break put the hosts in the ascendancy and made it a difficult task for the Terriers to get something from the contest at Ashton Gate.

Juninho Bacuna’s goal was the highlight of a second half in which Town mounted a strong response in search of a comeback, but Carlos’ side couldn’t find the all-important second goal to take at least a point from the encounter.

Town’s Head Coach expressed both his disappointment with the goals conceded along with the encouragement obtained from seeing the Terriers’ reaction after the break, when speaking to #HTTV post-match.

“I think in the second half, we did exactly what we wanted to,” he said.

“We were losing the game by two goals in the first half because we didn’t defend well for a period of five minutes.

“It made a result that was complicated to change but the reaction of the team was what we wanted to show today.

“I think the team did everything we had to do to change the result today.”

Whilst analysing his side’s performance, Carlos insisted there is plenty Town can take from the game at both ends of the pitch.

“When you concede two goals like that, it’s always going to be difficult to go for the game.

“I think we were in conditions to defend them better and I think we were in the conditions to attack better too.

“I think the team played the second half how we need to play in the next games too.”

Next up for the Terriers is a return to the John Smith’s Stadium to face Stoke City in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday.

Town’s Head Coach is hoping to get back to winning ways following an evening of two halves at Ashton Gate.

“We know that we didn’t do the first half that we are able to do and we did the second half that we are able to do.

“I think the important thing now is for us to recover because in three days’ time we have the opportunity to change the dynamic that is exactly what we want to change.”
