Defender to gain senior football in Sky Bet League 2
- Another taste of men’s football for Ben Jackson
- Full-back to join Bolton Wanderers until the end of the season
- Comments from Academy Manager Emyr Humphreys
Huddersfield Town left-back Ben Jackson has joined Sky Bet League 2 side Bolton Wanderers on loan.
The 19-year-old will join up with the Trotters for the remainder of the 2020/21 season, although he can be recalled by Town after the first 28 days.
Managed by Ian Evatt, Bolton currently sit 17th in the fourth-tier of English football with 27 points from 22 games.
This will be Jacko’s fourth loan move away from Canalside as he continues to gain experiences in senior men’s football.
The youngster made his Huddersfield Town debut in the Carabao Cup against Rochdale in September before making his league debut just a week later starting in the Sky Bet Championship against Norwich City. He also came off the bench in the Terriers’ Emirates FA Cup match against Plymouth Argyle.
A pacy, left footed player, Ben can play out wide in either defence or midfield, and joined Town’s Academy at Under-15 level.
Huddersfield Town’s Academy Manager, Emyr Humphreys commented:
“This is the perfect next step for Jacko and a great opportunity for him.
“He has progressed really well over the last couple of years and did really well to make his First Team debut this season.
“He has already had good exposure to senior First Team football at Darlington and Stockport, but this will be an even bigger test for him trying to break into a Sky Bet League 2 side and hold down a starting shirt.
“Bolton is a huge club for Sky Bet League 2, with a great fan base and history, so there will be massive expectations on Ben to perform well, which will be a great challenge for him to deal with.
“Jacko has worked incredibly hard for this opportunity and I’m sure this will be a fantastic experience for him.”
