Young defender to gain senior football in Sky Bet League 2 side

- Mustapha Olagunju joins Port Vale on loan
- Young defender to gain first loan experience in the EFL
- Comments from Academy Manager Emyr Humphreys

Huddersfield Town centre-back Mustapha Olagunju has joined Sky Bet League 2 side Port Vale on loan.

The 19-year-old will join up with the Valiants for the remainder of the 2020/21 season.

Port Vale currently sit 15th in the fourth-tier of English football with 32 points from 27 games.

This will be Mustapha’s third loan move away from Canalside as he continues to adapt and gain experience in senior men’s football.

The defender had a short spell with Tadcaster Albion last year before making seven appearances for Vanarama National League South side Welling United earlier this season.

Mustapha made his Huddersfield Town debut against Plymouth Argyle in the Emirates FA Cup in January and has been a regular for the Terriers’ B Team and Under-19s.

Huddersfield Town’s Academy Manager, Emyr Humphreys, commented:

“Mustapha deserves this chance and it’ll be a good opportunity for him.

“After experiencing men’s football at Tadcaster and Welling, this will be a great step for his development and one he will certainly learn a lot from.

“It will be a really good test for Mustapha and I’m sure he’ll relish it!”
