Huddersfield Town Head Coach Carlos Corberán was disappointed not to be able to build on the momentum gained at the weekend following a 2-0 defeat to Derby County in the Sky Bet Championship.
The Terriers were beaten in the East Midlands, three days after a first win of the calendar year at the weekend, following goals either side of half-time for the hosts from George Edmundson and Martyn Waghorn.
Carlos says the result made for a missed opportunity to build on victory last time out.
“It was a game that was important for us to get something from and we didn’t do that," he said.
“Now, we feel the pain that we couldn’t do the game we wanted to do, and we couldn’t get the points that we wanted to get.”
Speaking to #HTTV after the match at Pride Park, Carlos broke down the game and gave his thoughts on the encounter as a whole.
“We started really well, we broke the press of the two strikers. We created a good chance with (Fraizer) Campbell.
“We conceded a chance that I think was the only real chance they had in the first half. We couldn’t clear and they scored the goal.
“In the second half, they changed the shape to stop us breaking the press and to play in the offensive half.
“We tried to attack more to change the result and when we were trying to do this, they used one of our mistakes on the counter attack to score the second goal.
“We didn’t create many chances, they didn’t create many chances but the two chances they had they scored. We didn’t score from the few chances we had.”
Town’s Head Coach also had an update on the fitness of Fraizer Campbell who had to be withdrawn early in the second half at Pride Park.
“He was feeling a pain in the abdominal, he wasn’t feeling well," Carlos explained post-match.
“He tried to keep going in the first half, in the end he couldn’t continue the game as he didn’t feel in the normal conditions to play the game and that’s why we put Phillips on the pitch.”
