Huddersfield Town Women will be aiming to continue their fine form in cup competitions when they travel to Loughborough on Sunday 19 December 2021 for a 2pm kick-off in the FA Women’s National League Cup.

With a 3-1 win over Loughborough Lightning in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup fixture last week, confidence levels are certainly rising amongst the squad. Britt Sanderson and Laura Elford ran the show in the reverse fixture and will be hoping to add to their goal tallies once again.

Town will be looking to progress further in another tournament, once again at the expense of their Leicestershire opponents. Both teams also met in August 2021, when the Terriers took all three points home following a 5-1 victory.

Loughborough Lightning currently sit 12th in the league table, whilst Town sit occupy the fourth spot.

A key aspect in Town’s newly integrated style of play is their defensive record, with just one goal conceded in their last four games. Manager Glen Preston will be looking for consistent performances at the back, whilst causing the opposition problems in attack.

In form attacker Britt Sanderson has netted 13 goals in 15 games, adding to her illustrious goalscoring season by netting a brace in the previous fixture. She will have plenty of service coming her way, from the likes of fullback Paige Crossman and attacker Ria Montgomery.

Town fans can travel to Loughborough and watch Town Women live at Holywell Sports Complex, located on Oakwood Drive, Loughborough, LE11 3QF.
