Huddersfield Town’s Head Coach, Carlos Corberán, is delighted that his side were victorious at the John Smith’s Stadium on Boxing Day.
The Terriers saw out a thrilling 3-2 win over Blackpool, with Carlos quick to celebrate with the fans post-match.
Speaking after the game, Town’s Head Coach explained why it was such an important win.
“We know that Boxing Day is always a very special game.
“It’s one day where football and family go together, and to have the opportunity to celebrate a win like we achieved today with our fans is very important.
“We want every Huddersfield Town family to go home happy with the performance and the result of the team.
“Without the support of the fans, it would have been too difficult to change the result like we did today.”
The Spaniard went on to praise his side’s reaction to falling behind so early.
“I think when you concede a goal in the opening chance for the opponent, it’s important that you react immediately.
“The reaction of the team was very positive.
“We scored almost immediately, which allowed us to have more confidence and develop more possibilities in the game.
“I think after we scored our first goal, we started to play some good moments, but we did allow Blackpool to have counterattacks.
“They’re a very dangerous team on the counter.
“In the second half, we managed that much better.”
Carlos also took the time to comment on Sorba Thomas’ performance.
“In my opinion, Sorba has just come through a difficult period.
“At the start of the season, he was performing really well, and then he started struggling to find a way to have more impact.
“In this game, I saw the reaction that I wanted to see in him.
“The key is to be self-demanding and always have confidence.
“I think Sorba’s contribution in the last three games has been the contribution that we expect from him.”
